Update 11/18

The last two weeks were mainly spent preparing for Titan 21.  The presentation at Titan 21 consisted of a map with pins, individuals were told to put where they planned to go on vacation this year as a sort of example of what the final product may look like.  After placing their pin onto the map they were given a brief overview of the project and any questions that they asked were answered.  The project was received very well overall and Mr. Whitlow wants to make an announcement of the Instagram page once it is completed and the project begins.  We have realized at this point that we may need additional funding for the project and will consider applying for government funding of some sort.  After looking into options the GPS and software will be purchased and soon when Winter Break begins the GPS will be sent out, most likely with Mr. Hunt.

Update 11/4

Over the past two weeks we have attempted correspondence with several companies.  Many of the companies were uninterested and hung up almost immediately.  However, a few of the companies said that they may call back after talking about it.  We have yet to receive any additional information from the companies, so we’ll probably have to call more, however, there is still a possibility that some of them will contact us.

Plan for the next 2 weeks:  Over the next two weeks we will continue to attempt communication with various companies, if we don’t receive any information from them this time, we may just have to purchase the necessary items ourselves.  We will also be preparing our presentation for Titan 21 on November 15th, hopefully that goes well.  If the project somehow manages to fail spectacularly, we may use the map from Titan 21 as an example of how it was supposed to go.  Also, by fail we mean if the first person simply fails to continue the project or if service drops or some other unforeseen event, hopefully none of these events occur and the project can continue on until a proper result is achieved.

Update 10/21

Response to Feedback – We have decided that the social media outlet that we will be using is Instagram.  Instagram appears to be the most optimal social media to use due to how common it is along with ease of access and creation.  The companies have not responded to communication so we have sent more emails to other various companies.  Hopefully some of them will respond this time.  We have researched the transportation laws and it seems that GPS’ are allowed on planes, however, it is necessary to be mindful of where you’re travelling.  If you happen to be going to North Korea then you probably shouldn’t bring a GPS with you, so be mindful of the country’s regulations that you are going to.

Plan for Next 2 Weeks – We will be calling the companies that we have sent emails to if they don’t respond so hopefully they will respond to that.  We will also be deciding upon what trinket to place the GPS within.

Update 10/7/2016

Over the last two weeks we have begun to locate possible types of GPS technology to be utilized in the project.  Additionally, we have begun to communicate with the companies involved in these technologies.  E-mails have been sent to various GPS companies informing them about the project and asking for assistance, the companies have yet to respond to these inquiries.  Hopefully they will respond to the inquiries soon and if they choose not to then we will search for more possible companies over the next two weeks to find out whether or not they will be able to provide any sort of assistance.  The cycle of inquiries will continue until we either receive some sort of assistance or run out of possible companies to contact.  After receiving assistance from the company or companies, we will move on to researching the safety laws that will be involved in the project and placed on the disclaimer, especially aviation laws.

Update, September 23rd

Response to feedback – Overall the feedback mostly wanted to know whether we would create some sort of additional page to go with the project, which we have decided that we will.  Also, people wanted to know who the GPS will be given to, that is currently unknown and will be decided closer to break after talking with various individuals.  Finally, people wanted to know how we would be getting the GPS back, we may or may not, depending on how things go, be getting the GPS back, however, we will include some sort of postage and contact information so that the GPS can be sent back.

Plan for the next 2 weeks – The plan for the first two weeks will be to look for the optimum website or social media source to put the project on.  As well as to decide on what what type of GPS and tracking software will be necessary.  We will also research the transportation laws so that the disclaimer can be more inclusive.
